Doug Henwood – The Numbercruncher will provide the Selections for Harrah’s Philadelphia for 2026 on Nahupicks.com

SUNDAY JULY 5, 2026

DOUG HENWOOD’S PICKS (The NumberCruncher)

Race 1

1-3-8-4

(#1) SCHWARTZ BROS PAT –  in too deep in his last race so these Harness Drivers Club types should suit better.  Plus we get Verruso.

Race 2

5-4-7-6

(#5) BIONIC – racing well under training/driving direction of Mike Schults.  8 post last time & still produced +4 middle move & group best adj closing quarter the start before that (June 14).

Race 3

4-1-2-3

(#4) STONEBRIDGE REX – in from Pocono fresh off a claim by owner/trainer Mark Akins.  Over there, he produced a 54.2 front half number (tops here) & a closing number (27.4) which is tied as the best in here.  Looks like a solid choice.

Race 4

 1-4-3-6

(#1) WESTERN BAYAMA – I’ll take the driver upgrade for starters.  28.4 adj closing quarter 2 starts back is easily best in here.

Race 5

8-6-2-5

(#8) HESA KINGSLAYER N  – another tough post but connections don’t seem to mind since they keep entering him towards the top of the claiming handicap range.  Down from $30,000 claimers though & shows a +5 middle move & group-best 26.4 closing quarter.  Allard is not shy so he’ll be leaving off the gate as you would expect.

Race 6
6-2-1-3
(#6) MIKI THE CLOWN – seems like a good next step by owner/trainer Izzy Estrada.  Follow a low condition win with a start in a Harness Drivers Club race.  Works really well when you can grab driver Yogi Sheridan.  Best adj closing quarter too (28.3).
Race 7

3-7-6-1

(#3) BELLS DAVID – in from The Meadows & Miami Valley.  Shows as best numbers front & back.

Race 8                                                                                                                                                                         .

2-9-7-8

(#2) R N B BAND – raced OK last time but draws much better today, This will be real first shot at NW5000 level.  Tied as best speed (56.0) & a nice 27.4 (adj) in last.  Main competition is outside so 8-1 ML looks generous.

Race 9

3-7-6-2

(#3) PERFECT SKY – raced against better at The Big M. Meadowlands size skews the numbers but best front & back ones regardless.

Race 10

6-4-5-2

(#6) CRUSH KILL DESTROY – here’s another in from Meadowlands.  Numbers look superior & we’ll take Engblom/Allard combo.

Race 11
1-3-7-5
(#1) SCANDALOUS RUMOR – racing well for owner/trainer/driver Ray Baynes.  Draws inside to go with his best speed (54.4).  27.2 adj last quarter is only 1 tick off best in here.

Race 12
2-3-4-6
(#2) SABA ROCK – those races in the Graduate Series stand out.  These are, of course, much easier.  Best adj closing quarter (26.3).

Race 13
1-2-3-4
(#1) EVERELAST STING DEO – last 2 starts here at Philly were winning efforts. Last one produced a group-best adj closing quarter (26.3)

Race 14
5-3-1-4
(#5) D A HOME STRETCH – racing OK & drops a condition.  Shows best closing number with his 27.1 from June 14.

Most Likely: R12 – #2 SABA ROCK
