Race 1

5-1-2-8

(#5) SWING VISION – looks like trainer Hamid Breedlove is trying a change in tactics. Last time he had driver Tyler Miller going for the top but that move was dealt a long outside journey. Looks to be doubling-down on the concept today with new driver George Napolitano in place. George is one of my favourite drivers when the hope is to win gate to wire & here he is. Let’s see if I’m right. Note as plan B, my selection also ties as best closer in the group (28.1).

Race 2

7-8-1-2

(#7) SHAKE ME LOOSE – really good at this $10-$15K claiming handicap level. Outside posts have not been a problem. Best speed (55.0) AND best closing number too (28.1). Looks solid again.

Race 3

4-2-1-6

(#4) NOPEWASNTME – racing well, same level, tied as best speed (55.3) and last race produced best adj closing quarter for the bunch (27.3).

Race 4

6-3-4-5

(#6) SASSINATOR – these are a bit easier & SASSINATOR has been racing well. Aug 14 closing number (26.3) is tons the best in here. Looks like a spot.

Race 5

6-4-3-7

(#6) STONECOLD GIRL – very little in this one so the drop from NW$2500L5 for my top 2 selections looms large. Then the 28.4 adj closing quarter produced Sept 18 by STONECOLD GIRL & driver Jack Pelling tops these easily. Rates top billing.

Race 6

3-1-2-8

(#3) WHIMSY HANOVER– not sure why there putting all these starts into a 2YO filly if they’re not pursuing some added money events. Still she’s been getting cheques & racing effectively. In here, the key stat might be her group-best 56.4 front half speed. She shows a decent 28.3 closing mark too but this looks like the spot to take her down the road in search of a gate to wire victory. Driver Troy Beyer gets the call today.

Race 7

5-2-3-7

(#5) ROCKNROLL CAROLINE – there’s a couple of decent 2YO’s to deal with (2&3) but my pick can sit close & brings the best adj closing quarter for the group, (tied actually) with her 27.1 taken Aug 21. Likely mows them down in the stretch.

Race 8 .

1-4-2-6

(#1) CHAOTIC CAPTAIN – there’s a few in here who should argue for top honours. I’ll play CHAOTIC CAPTAIN looking for a good trip & a stretch move to grab all the marbles. Numbers for contenders are tight so play a few in the P5 for comfort.

Race 9

3-1-4-5

(#3) MARKET BASED – drop is key to a potential breakthrough today. Best speed (56.0) and best 5/8ths adj closing quarter (28.0).

Race 10

7-2-3-4

(#7) STEAMBOAT – last few against stakes competition. Simply playing best last quarter which is the 28.1 we see July 31. Really any of the top 4 are capable.

Race 11

5-4-3-2

(#5) BAHAMA MOMMA – top two are close to a toss up but I’ve given my pick the edge based on seeming class advantage. Those Kentucky Sire Stakes types are salty. Should be a good race.

Race 12

6-8-3-4

(#6) PROMISING MOMENT – strictly using her Philly starts, we see a drop in class, best front half speed (55.3) and best closing number (27.3). These are a few of my favourite things!

Race 13

2-4-3-5

(#2) LUCKYLADY HANOVER – assuming she’s fine after that recent vet scratch – sick, this girl is racing well. That 27 flat closing number from Aug 21 is the best mark in here.

Race 14

2-3-1-5

(#2) KNOCK TWICE- nobody jumping out here. One visible usable start for this one but it was OK (28.4) & others at Big M & Yonkers showed some ability. These feel a bit easier so I’ll give a slight nod to close out the card.
